Baker Hughes & Haliburton Continue to Work on Improved Frack Technology

A major ingredient in fracking fluid is India’s guar bean. However, because of the popularity of fracking, the guar bean is now in short supply, causing a run-up in bean prices, according to Reuters.
Houston-based Baker Hughes (NYSE: BHI) and Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) have both developed their own synthetic version of the bean in their labs as a way to help companies hold down drilling costs.
