10 More Wells Drilled in Utica, 9 New Permits Issued Last Week


The Ohio Department of Natural Resources released the latest weekly update on Utica shale permitting, and it revealed a relatively slow week of activity.

In all, 9 new permits were issued last week.  6 of those were for wells in Carroll County, pushing the total there to 358 permits.  2 were issued to Belmont County and 1 to Monroe County.

This brings the latest totals to 1,015 permits issued.  627 wells have been drilled, and the number of producing wells stayed at 250 after jumping by 61 on last week's report.  The Utica rig count increased to 48.
