13 New Permits Bring Utica Total to 870

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has released the weekly permitting activity for the Utica shale last week.  13 new permits were issued for horizontal drilling.

After no permits were issued for the normally busy Carroll County, it was back on top of the count this week with 4 of the 13 permits granted for Lee Township's Shaw 4-13-5.  3 permits were issued for both Columbiana and Harrison counties, while 2 were issued for Monroe County.  Rounding out the list was Tuscarawas County, which saw its first new permit issued since March.

The latest round of activity brings the total number of permits to 870, with 526 wells drilled and 125 producing.  The Utica rig count is 36.
