A state oil and gas panel does not have the authority to hear appeals of drilling permits, the Ohio Supreme Court ruled today, agreeing with arguments made by Chesapeake Energy.Read the entire story here.
The court ruled 5-2 to invalidate the actions by the Ohio Oil and Gas Commission in a dispute between Chesapeake Exploration LLC and a land owner, Summitcrest Inc. The commission “patently and unambiguously lacked jurisdiction” over the issue it was deciding.
