Latest ODNR Report Shows 68 New Producing Wells This Week

It was a slow week for permitting in the Utica shale last week, but that doesn't mean that the latest weekly report from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources indicates that there is a lack of activity in Ohio.

There were just 2 permits issued last week.  One was for Antero Resources' Mahoney Unit 1H well in Noble County, and the other went to EM Energy Ohio for the Merlin 10PPH well in Washington County.

Despite the lack of new permitting activity, the report shows big change in the number of producing wells.  Last week there were 399 reported, but this week that number has jumped to 467.  There are now 1,283 permits issued and 879 wells drilled, and the Utica rig count stands at 46.
