Monroe County Takes Center Stage in Latest Permit Report; 180 Wells Now Producing

The latest weekly permitting report is now available from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.  20 new permits were issued last week.

Monroe County was the hot spot, with 7 new permits.  Carroll County was right behind, with 6 - 3 for Chesapeake Energy, and 3 for Rex Energy.  Rounding out the list are Belmont, Harrison, and Noble counties with 2 permits each, and Tuscarawas County with 1.

At the average pace that has been set over the past several months, Ohio's Utica shale will go over 1,000 permits for horizontal drilling by the end of the month.  The new tally is 979.  601 wells have been drilled, and 180 wells are producing.  The Utica rig count rose to 38.
