Ohio Passes 900 Utica Shale Permits; Producing Wells Increase Too

13 new permits were issued last week by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for horizontal drilling in the Utica shale.

5 of the new permits were issued for Guernsey County, 3 for Monroe County, and 1 each for Carroll, Harrison, Muskingum, Noble and Trumbull counties.

This latest activity pushes the permit total to 913.  There are 563 wells drilled, and the number of producing wells has now jumped to 162.  The Utica rig count is 33.
