Ohio Utica Shale Now Has Over 600 Wells Producing

The Utica shale in Ohio has passed another milestone number on the latest weekly permitting update from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

14 new permits were issued last week.  Noble County was the focal point, as 10 of the new permits were for wells located there.  Carroll (2), Harrison (1), and Monroe (1) counties rounded out the report.

The biggest update for the week is seeing that the number of wells producing crossed over the 600 mark, ending the week at 601.  There have now been 1,548 permits issued and 1,111 wells drilled.  The Utica rig count is 45.
