Study: Ohio Shale Counties See 21.1% Sales Increase in 2012; Job Growth Lags Behind

Sales in 13 Ohio counties stretching from Ashtabula to Guernsey were $14.9 billion in 2012, up from $12.3 billion in 2011, the study said.
The counties are Ashtabula, Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Geuaga, Guernsey, Harrison, Mahoning, Portage, Stark, Trumbull and Tuscarawas.
The rebound in sales activity in the 13 counties began in mid-2011 and continued strongly through 2012, the study says.
Job growth in those 13 counties has been far slower,about 1.4 percent,  the study says.
