Utica Shale Count Passes 700; Carroll County Once Again the Busiest Last Week

18 new permits were issued for horizontal drilling in the Utica shale last week, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

8 of those were for Carroll County, bringing the total permit count there to 279.  4 new permits were issued for Harrison County, 2 for Jefferson County, and 1 each in Ashtabula, Columbiana, Guernsey, and Trumbull.

The total Utica shale permit count now sits at 711.  355 wells have been drilled and 102 are producing.  The Utica shale rig count on the latest report is 29.
