Activists Defeated in Green as Ohio Supreme Court Rules Against NEXUS Referendum

A referendum on the city of Green, Ohio’s $7.5 million settlement with Nexus Gas Transmission won’t appear on the Nov. 6 ballot, Kallanish Energy reports. 
The Ohio Supreme Court ruled the opponents of the settlement, Citizens for Responsible Green Government, waited too long to sue the city after it had refused to certify the referendum petitions. 
The news was released last Thursday by the state’s high court. 
Last February, the city outside of Akron, Ohio, had approved the settlement with the company that is building the Nexus natural gas pipeline across northern Ohio. Some were unhappy with that action. 
Last June, the city refused to certify the petitions because the copy of the settlement ordinance the group circulated differed from the final legislation approved by the city.
