Taxing Brine, Gas Explosion in PA, Fracking with Propane - Links for 3/30/12

State Rep. Ronald V. Gerberry of Austintown, D-59th, introduces legislation that would tax fracking wastewater recycling operations (like the one in Carrollton).

An explosion at a natural gas compressor station in Susquehanna County on Thursday morning blew a hole in the roof of the complex holding the engines, shaking homes as far as a half-mile from the compressor complex and drawing emergency responders from nearby counties.
An upstate New York landowners group may partner with a Canadian company that uses liquid propane instead of water-based hydraulic fracturing to get natural gas flowing into wells.

In an about-face, the Environmental Protection Agency on Friday withdrew its 15-month-old emergency order against Range Resources that had blamed the Fort Worth-based drilling company for methane contamination in water wells and demanded that the company supply safe drinking water to two Parker County homes.
