Utica Rig Count Rises Again on Latest ODNR Report

The latest weekly permitting report from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources reveals that activity may be starting to increase a bit.  After a few weeks of greatly slowed activity, there were 5 new permits issued last week: 2 in Belmont County to Rice Drilling, and 3 in Monroe County to Statoil.  In addition to the new permits, the Utica rig count saw another uptick, going from 11 to 13.  That is the highest the rig count has been since it was at 15 at the beginning of March 2016.
