Tidbits from the Utica Shale Conference in Canton Last Week

Bob Downing of the Akron Beacon Journal has released several different short articles with some of the various bits of Utica shale information that could be gathered at the conference held last week at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.  Among the various items:
  • The number of drilling inspectors in Ohio has jumped from 40 in 2010 when the Utica drilling began to 120 in 2015.
  • In 2015, Ohio produced more natural gas than Ohioans consumed.
  • The cost of a 1,000-foot Utica lateral has dropped from $1.8 million in 2011 to $1 million today.
  • In Ohio, EdgeMarc Energy Holdings has drilled four wells and completed one in Monroe County and drilled one and completed one in Washington County. It has 12,000 acres in Monroe County and 16,000 acres in Washington County.
