300 Wells Now Producing in Utica Shale, With Over 700 Drilled


The latest update from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources shows that permitting heated up in Harrison County last week.  A couple more milestone numbers were passed, as well.

14 new permits were issued for horizontal Utica shale drilling last week.  10 of those were for Harrison County wells, bringing the total there to 172 wells permitted.  The remaining 4 permits last week were for Carroll County.

The total number of permits issued has now reached 1,074.  The number of wells drilled crossed the 700 mark last week and now stands at 707.  The number of wells producing on this latest report is exactly 300 - another milestone reached for the Utica shale.  The Utica rig count is 38.
