The latest report from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources reveals another busy week of permitting.

22 new permits were issued for horizontal drilling in Ohio's Utica shale formation last week.  Leading the way was Harrison County, with 8 of the permits issued for drilling there.  That brings Harrison County's cumulative count to 115 wells permitted, with 43 drilled and 11 producing.

Carroll and Belmont counties were the site for 4 permits each.  That brings Carroll County's total to 300 permits, with 188 drilled and 60 producing.  Of the 6 remaining permits, 3 were for Columbiana County, 2 Noble County, and 1 for Monroe County.

That brings the total permit count for Ohio to 789, with 387 wells drilled and 113 producing.  The Utica rig count last week was 33.
