Financial Post Review: FrackNation Trumps Promised Land

Promised Land seeks to piggyback the hysteria over “fracking” — the injection of high-pressure liquids to release economy-changing volumes of gas from “tight” shale rock formations — promoted by Josh Fox’s 2010 crockumentary Gasland, whose defining image was of flaming tap water. The problem was that this had nothing to do with local fracking. It seems that there are numerous places where natural methane makes water flammable. That inconvenient truth was exposed at the time, but is soon to be elaborated in another fracking-based movie, FrackNation, which also does a fine job of debunking Promised Land’s warped presentation of shale gas as a potential community-destroyer.
